True Forgiveness! 

Have you ever tried to forgive someone and found you simply couldn't do it?

You've cried about it and

- prayed about it and

- asked God to help you.

But those old feelings of resentment just failed to go away.

 

Put an end to those kinds of failures in the future-

- by basing your forgiveness on faith rather than feelings.

 

True forgiveness doesn't have anything at all to do with how you feel.

It's an act of the will. It is based on obedience to God and on faith in Him.

 

That means once you've forgiven a person-

- you need to consider him permanently forgiven! When old feelings rise up within you and

 

Satan tries to convince you that you haven't really forgiven, resist him.

Say, "No, I've already forgiven that person by faith. I refuse to dwell on those old feelings."

 

Then, according to 1 John 1:9-

Believe that you receive forgiveness and cleansing from the sin of unforgiveness and from all unrighteousness associated with it including any remembrance of having been wronged!

 

Have you ever heard anyone say, "I may forgive, but I'll never forget!"

That's a second-rate kind of forgiveness-

- that you, as a believer, are never supposed to settle for.

You're to forgive supernaturally "even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Eph. 4:32.

 

You're to forgive as God forgives.

To release that person from guilt permanently and unconditionally and to operate as if nothing bad ever happened between you.

You're to purposely forget as well as forgive.

 

As you do that-

- something supernatural will happen within you.

The pain once caused by that incident will disappear.

The power of God will wash away the effects of it.

And you'll be able to leave it behind you once and for all.

 

Don't become an emotional bookkeeper-

- keeping careful accounts of the wrongs you have suffered.

 

Learn to forgive and forget.

It will open a whole new world of blessing for you.

"Love...is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it pays no

attention to a suffered wrong." 1 Corinthians 13:5.

"INNER THOUGHTS" 

These inner thoughts are dedicated to all of Veterans who have served: It is especially dedicated to my father(William Shinaver) who served in Vietnam(68,69 Wiskey Battery, Marines) and died at the age of 60 due to the War on July 15,2009. He had PTSD, Agent Orange, and fought a war in his mind on a daily basis. He lay to rest at Custer National Memorial Cementery in Battle Creek, MI. May your soul rest in peace, DAD: May all the Vietnam Veterans rest in peace who never came home.

WHILE DARING GREATLY

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.  The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errors and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, and spends himself in a worthy couse; who at the best knows in the end thier truimph of his achievements; and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly; so tht his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.( Theodore Roosevelt)

A Corpsman's conversation With God

Grant me, Oh Lord, for the coming events. Enough knowledge to cope and some plain comman sense.  Be at our side, on those nightly patrols, And be merciful judging our vulnerable souls.  Make my hands steady, and sure as a rock, When the others go down with a wound or in shock.  Let me be close, when they bleed in the mud, With a tourniquet handy to save precious blood.  Here in the jungle, the enemy near, Even corpsmen Can't offer much lightness and cheer.  Just help me Lord, to save lives when I can, Because even out here there is merit in man.  If it's Your will, make our casualities light, And don't let any die in the murderous night. These are my friends that I'm trying to save, They are frightened at times, but Your know they are brave.  Let me not fail, when they needme so much, Help me to serve with compassionate touch, Lord, I'm no here, my job is to heal, And I want You to know just how helpless I feel. Bring us back safely to camp with the dawn, For too many like us are already gone.  Lord, Bless my friends if that's part of Your plan, And go with us tonight, when we go out again. (Vernon R. A Drink To The Man

I lift my mug and drink to the club, You men who served with me, You men who fought from vessels decks, Out in the South China Sea: to you sailors who rode the bounty wave; Up north of the DMZ: The Tonkin Gulf was a strange damn place: I raise my mug to thee: You sailors who rode the Carriers large; Those who flew the sorties; Planes launched from pitching decks; My mug is raised to thee: For the Crusisers named after cities at home; I salute you men and cheer; The blast of those six and eight inch guns was hell; To you, " I drink this beer:  To those who rode the Oilers; the Stores Ships and such; Our magazines and tanks were filled; To you I drink this cup:  For the Destroyer crew I drink this brew; I applaud each and every man; Who served his time on decks awash; From ships we called tin cans:  And last but not least I drink to the beast; The Dreadnought and her sixteen inch guns; I would have sailed with her to hell; For a chance to fire a shell; Into the Country of Vietnam:( Tom Peavy U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran)

Agent Orange

The sputterings of love's cauldron; Sparked flowing of memory's pen, Draining my blood of its iron; To bring this out in the open. Spewed from Bombers high in the sky; With Sperry-Rand accuracy, Whence it left Heroes there to die; Through Dow's chemical piracy; handicapping those who survived Whose genes carry aberrations, That researchers have not contrived; Quotes for future generations. A Soldier's Prayer

Upon this dark and bloody ground, I march but never sleep. Oh Lord, I pray please le me stop and rest my weary feet.  This road is hot, and I am tired, but never can I rest; For death is in the jungle just waiting for his catch.  Take a good care of Mom, dear Lord, and keep Ole Dad in line.  Help my sis and brother mind, don't worry, I'll be fine.  Keep them safe and happy, Lord , and I'll lbe satisfied.  I know my time is coming, Lord, I'm not afraid to die.  The only thing I'd hate to see is to see my mother cry.  Thank you, Lord, for listeing in, the time is drawing near. DO YOU CARE?

We're free. Do you care? The air cracked the wall with its fiery blast.  As some men died, others asked, " Why are we here, away from home and our families?" No one knows.  We've been here so long.  Then, again, no one knows who we are.  We are just men who fight this bloody war.  Someday people will ask what we did.  All we can say is, " Some of us are dead."  Who will care? No one knows.  Those whose bodies line the graves gave their full measure all in the act of saving mankind. Yes, no one knows who we are.  We are not only tired, but we are lost, lost in the sweat of many a heated day.  We're just G.I's who fight and pray to will this world peae someday.  To what our daily efforts? I don't Even Know You

I don't even know you, You are older by twenty years and more.  You died before I was even born.  I don't even know you, But I know what you did that day.  And I see pictures of you standing in Harm's way.  I don't even know you,  But I cried as I stood before your grave.  I know you were the youngest among the brave.  I don't even kow you, But I can't forget your name.  I know you paid the price for fame.  I don't even know you,  But I saw you on a documentary one night.  God, I wish you could have survived the fight.  I don't even know you, But emotions were deep as I drove from Elizaville.  And I'll never forget what you did on that hill.  I don't even know you...Frank  But from one Marine to another.....Thanks!(Robert D. COURAGE:

I'd been afraid.... so many times, And sometimes frightened too; But never had I known of fear; As those before me knew.  I'd talked with compaign veterans; Of battles they'd fought before; I wanted to know beforehand; How to figure out the score.  I wondered if I'd turn to stone; Or if I'd try to hide; to run away from danger; And escape the fear inside.  Though many times I've been there since; The answer I still don't know; It lies within each soldier's breast; Like the earth beneath the snow.  I think it must be learned each time; One faces his Makers will; On the battlefield...or some other place; Throughout his life...until... he crosses that fatal thresh-hold; To another...more peaceful land... Fighting for You

Old Kipling wrote of soldiers; Both common men and brave; They fought for King and England; And some went to their grave.  The GI in the USA; Has no King to fight for; No British Royal tradition; To help him win a war.  But here in sweet America; We fight for liberty; No King, no throne, no septer; Have any one of we.  We love our good old president; A fine old boy it's true; But when it comes to fighting; We fight for each of you. For Those Who Served in Vietnam

I saw the hurt and felt the pain-that touched these men of war; The men who went-when duty called-who fought-where Satan would have stalled-and died-the ones who gave their all.  I felt the pain that touched these men-as it never touched before.  These soldiers went to do a job-as they were trained to do, A job that's dirty-at it's best-with sacrifices-fully blest- Aggravtations-little rest.  Ungrateful tho their homeland-these men of war CAME THRU.  War did not end with coming home-they met another foe.  No welcome praises touched their ears-no heartfelt smiles- But taunts and jeers-no place of honor-for many years.  Not allowed to win the war-shame and hatred began to grow.  I wept at scenes that passed my eyes and thought life such a sham- These men were strong and proud and brave- To our land loyal to the grave-  No one can know-how much they gave- You need to know-with grateful thanks-That someone gives a Damn!(Linda C. In Vietnam

You tried to save your buddies as best as you could; You did the best with what you had; And cursed the heavens when it wasn't enough; Because in your arms they died anyway; You cried inside at the loss of a friend; But you had to move on ; IN VIETNAM;  Next guy was lucky or so you thought; You patched him up and sent him off; But sometimes never knew if he really made it; A buddy saved but lost all the same; IN VIETNAM; A lot of men died but you survived; Or so they said when you came back; But you'll never forget the ones you lost; Or left behind; They are there upon the wall; Their bodies long buried but their souls still roam; IN VIETNAM;  In your heart you still mourn; Your heart still aches for those long lost friends; But you suffer still from a greater loss; But you now search for that part of you; That also died: IN VIETNAM... Life Is Like A Candle

You know, life is like a candle. I know that sounds funny, but just here thinking and looking, I see the candle burn brightly and look happy and radiant; full of life. Then the wax builds up around the wick in a melted puddle causing the flame to flicker and shudder like a moment of sadness and desolation.  But it keeps burning and it melts a hole in the dyke that is holding the wax and it drips down the side till the flame is burning brightly and prospering once more.  I wish I had the strength to fight like that flame and keep coming back, melting challenge after challenge, even though any time it could be snuffed out by some controlled mean or an uncontrolled one like the wind. Then in the end, it fights radiantly for its life trying to burn until it grows dim and finally, burns out. My Country

My cournty went to war; and I watched- My country sent me a letter that said, " Greetings" and I answered- My country showed me the enemy and I did what I had been tought- My country declared, " Peace with Honor"and in my soul there was neither- My country returned to the " world" with a pat on the back and a handful of ribbons and I was grateful- My country told me " You are a Vet with benefits for life" and I felt proud- My county told me to call if I needed help and I did- My country told me they would get back to me and I wonder what's taking so long.(David L. The Soldier Came Home

The soldier came home; with his life, as a prize of war, he had survived, his only victory, and in his heart, there was pain and anger.  He could not forget the others those whose names, on a half-hidden black wall, brought back the memories brought back the pain and tears to his eyes. POW/MIA OPERATIONS SKYWATCH 1961-19??

Each day I watch the deep blue sky; I wanted someone to care.. If I live or die- I was born far away in the " Land of the Free"; Where brave men shed their blood for my liberty; Now I feel so alone but my hopes are still high; That's why each day...I watch the sky.  The words of a song tell my daily plea... " AMERICA, AMERICA, GOD SHED HIS GRACE ON ME"- I know someday soon they will find a way; To get me home and off the list POW/MIA! In anquish I ask myself:  And languish away my sunset years, On some forgotten shelf.  " Not so, not so!"  Familiar voices command me loudly; " Take up your pen and write", they bid, " That war not be regarded proudly".  In the warning hours of a sleepless nights, Headless torsos float before my tortured eyes: As around the wrold beat the drums of war, Ere the cream of mankind dies. SEARCHING FOR REALITY

I've preached the end, tis shurly here, But I've no frets, and I've no fear. Has reality trutly struck me that hard? AS I wonder across the prison yard.  Twas only yesterday I sometimes think, Poor Asian peasants, who didn't even own a kitchen sink.  Sometimes I flash back, and it's happening more often, Only the winners come home in a coffin.  At night I'd sit alone in the bunker and cry, Searching and searching for the alternate WHY!  In the name of " freedom" the sergeant would say, I still think about that, each and every day. So now I walk around here within a double shell, One of the body, " and one gone to Hell!"

Once Always

Time and trials have taken their toll as seen upon my face. My heart is weak, my mind slow from my long and rapid pace. There's not much left but memories and an emblem on my door But " twas a time when I stoold proud in the uniform I wore.  Each mission we had, with tenacity we did the very best The " agove and behond" we counted as norm and they put ribbons on our chest.  Ah, who care now about my past and the tragic things I've seen but just inside and much alive is an old but true Marine.  We roamed the seas, fought in the air and frozen and muddy land Wtih cannon, rifle, and pistol fire we buried them in the sand.  When food, supplies and ammo's gone and left are just a few. The Skipper yells " We'll not retreat!" ' Cause attack is all we knew.  We drew our trusty Bowie knieves T'was deadly in our hands.  "Cause each man knew the time was now to kill them man to man.  Seems no one cares what has been done to keep our homeland free Th' Corps birthday comes, I look around to find just two or three.  When no one's found I find a place that's old but very clean  Then lift my glass to young and old

OLD GLORY

No one every pays attention _ If they did, perhaps they'd laugh When that funnny old custodian runs the banner up the staff.  Standing stiffly to attention isn't easy anymore- he's becoming rather feeble, and his aging back is sore.  But at day break, every morning, he is there to raise the flag, and The Stars and stripes to him was always more than just a rag.  He is proud to fly the colors, everytime he has the chance, For he wasn't always old; and once he went to war in France.  Then his son, who joined the Navy back in 1944, Died a mile off Okinawa trying  hard to get a shore.  And the other son-the youngest-never voted-never will- Perished halfway to the summit of a North Korean hill.  Then the grandson he had raised to be a strong and honest man,Under went a siege at Khe Sanh where he fell, but never ran.  Priceless treasures need defending, and at times a man must fight; And that weary old custodian finds his flag a precious sight.   He will never be forgetting all the sacrifice and pain,  And he knows that were he able he would go enlist again.  There's a mighty sense of pride that none around him ever see,  When his shaking hands have hauled Old glory up there in the breeze.

Declaring His Promises 

DECLARING HIS PROMISES:

Ex 23:27 I will send My terror before you and will

throw into confusion all the people to whom you shall

come, and I will make all your foes turn from you [in

flight].

Deut 20:4 For the LORD your God is the one who goes

with you to fight for you against your enemies to give

you victory."

Deut 28:7 "The LORD will cause your enemies who rise

against you to be defeated before your face; they

shall come out against you one way and flee before you

seven ways.

Deut 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge and

dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting

arms; He drove the enemy before you and thrust them

out, saying, Destroy!

Isa 42:13-17 The LORD will march out like a mighty

man, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a

shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph

over his enemies. 14 "For a long time I have kept

silent, I have been quiet and held myself back. But

the indwelling and controlling factor of life].

1 Cor 15:54-57 And when this perishable puts on the

imperishable and this that was capable of dying puts

on freedom from death, then shall be fulfilled the

Scripture that says, Death is swallowed up (utterly

vanquished forever) in and unto victory. [Isa 25:8.]

55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is

your sting? [Hos 13:14.] 56 Now sin is the sting of

death, and sin exercises its power [upon the soul]

through [the abuse of] the Law. 57 But thanks be to

God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors]

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

DECLARING HIS POWER....

Rom 4:19-20 He did not weaken in faith when he

considered the [utter] impotence of his own body,

which was as good as dead because he was about a

hundred years old, or [when he considered] the

barrenness of Sarah's [deadened] womb. [Gen 17:17;

18:11.]

20 No unbelief or distrust made him waver

(doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God,

but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he

gave praise and glory to God,

Ex 15:6-10

6 "Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in

power; Your right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy

in pieces. 7 And in the greatness of Your excellence

You have overthrown those who rose against You; You

sent forth Your wrath; It consumed them like stubble.

8 And with the blast of Your nostrils The waters were

gathered together; The floods stood upright like a

heap; The depths congealed in the heart of the sea. 9

The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I

Isa 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends

of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary.His

understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to

the weak, And to those who have no might He increases

strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those

who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They

shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run

and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Isa 44:24-26 [Judah Will Be Restored ]

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, And He who formed

you from the womb:"I am the LORD, who makes all

things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who

spreads abroad the earth by Myself;

25 Who frustrates the signs of the babblers, And

drives diviners mad; Who turns wise men backward, And

makes their knowledge foolishness;

26 Who confirms the word of His servant, And

performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to

Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited,' To the cities of

Judah, 'You shall be built,' And I will raise up her

waste places;

Eph 1:17-22 [For I always pray to] the God of our

Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may

grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of

insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and

intimate] knowledge of Him, 18 By having the eyes of

your heart flooded with light, so that you can know

and understand the hope to which He has called you,

and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints

(His set-apart ones), 19 And [so that you can know

and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited

and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us

who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His

mighty strength,

20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from

the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the

heavenly [places],

21 Far above all rule and authority and power and

dominion and every name that is named [above every

title that can be conferred], not only in this age and

in this world, but also in the age and the world which

are to come. 22 And He has put all things under His

feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme

Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout

the church], [Ps 8:6.]

Col 2:12-15 And you, being dead in your trespasses

and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made

alive together with Him, having forgiven you all

trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of

requirements that was against us, which was contrary

to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having

nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed

principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle

of them, triumphing over them in it.

Rev 1:16-19 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet

as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to

me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am

alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades

and of Death.

GOD WOULD HAVE SENT US AN EDUCATOR

IF OUR GREATEST NEED HAD BEEN TECHNOLOGY

GOD WOULD HAVE SENT US AN SCIENTIST

IF OUR GREATEST NEED HAD BEEN MONEY

GOD WOULD HAVE SENT US AN ECONOMIST

IF OUR GREATEST NEED HAD BEEN PLEASURE

GOD WOULD HAVE SENT US AN ENTERTAINER

BUT OUR GREATEST NEED WAS FORGIVENESS,

SO GOD SENT US A SAVIOUR(JESUS CHRIST)
